Sir Ian McKellen

He founded the gay rights campaign juggernaught Stonewall, and campaigned strongly for such issues as Section 28 - including once writing on an autograph for the Tory politican Michael Howard's children, "Fuck off, I'm gay."

McKellen has also taken his activism internationally, where it caused a major stir in Singapore. Invited to do an interview on a morning show, he shocked the interviewer by asking if they could recommend him a gay bar. The program immediately ended. Homosexuality is illegal in Singapore.

HA!

I couldn't find a better role model.

My 21st - cross posted from myspace-

plan A:
Go to dinner/lunch somewhere in city and stay somewhere in city.
plan B:
Go to dinner in Hunter Valley and stay in a resort, cause havoc, run to the pool drunk and naked and warp the minds of innocent children on holiday.
plan C:
Go to dinner somewhere cheap and nearby, and then during the first weekend of Feb everyone accompany me on a road trip to Forster to smooch off my parents and go waterskiing/water tubing/wake boarding and comment on the backwards nature of the Forster and Taree natives.

I was thinking C

Comments? Would people ACTUALLY come to Forster to get pulled behind a boat at high speeds? It's fun.

"SCIENTISTS have discovered a common protein in semen that latches onto particles of the human immunodeficiency virus, guiding it into cells and dramatically increasing the risk of infection.

Researchers in Germany found that fragments of prostatic acidic phosphatase, found in semen, form tiny fibres known as amyloid fibrils that capture HIV particles and help them to penetrate target cells, enhancing the infection rate by up to 100,000 fold."

While this is not totally unexpected, as it makes sense from an evolutionary point of view, I still find it hilarious.

He's sent us all to our deaths in the acidic pit/bowels of his mate, let us take revenge in our final hour!

From FOXNews.com:

While several studies find homosexuality in humans and other animals is biological rather than learned, a question remains over whether it's a hard-wired phenomenon or one that can be altered.

A new study finds that both drugs and genetic manipulation can turn the homosexual behavior of fruit flies on and off within a matter of hours.

While the genetic finding supports the thinking that homosexuality is hard-wired, the drug finding surprisingly suggests it's not that simple.

In fact, homosexuality in the fruit flies seems to be regulated by how they interpret the scent of another.

Homosexuality is widespread in the animal world. But scientists have long debated whether, in humans a "gay gene" exists.

Previous research in humans has suggested that how we interpret scents given off by another person might impact our sexuality.

In the new work, University of Illinois at Chicago researcher David Featherstone and coworkers discovered a gene in fruit flies they call "genderblind," or GB. A mutation in GB turns flies bisexual.

GB transports the neurotransmitter glutamate to brain cells. Altering levels of glutamate change the strength of nerve cell junctions, called synapses, which play a key role in human and animal behavior.

Post-doctoral researcher Yael Grosjean found that all male fruit flies with a mutation in their GB gene courted other males.

"It was very dramatic," Featherstone said. "The GB mutant males treated other males exactly the same way normal male flies would treat a female. They even attempted copulation."

I'm totally downloading the paper from Neuroscience right now.

Your personality is a rapidly evolving sheath that when pierced, oozes uncontrollably; drowning those that surround in the internal madness which afflicts you.

That is why you will never be happy.

Um... I just heard on NBN news that Anthony Gunther was run down by a car. The stolen car was occupied theives fleeing a ram-raid robbery and Anthony said he believed the the driver intentionally swerved to kill.

Anyone else know anything about it?

I didn't get a Melbourne cup horse. You know why? Because I don't care. I think it is a stupid tradition.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the gay society are deserving of 'homophobia.' It's self-inflicted. Out of boredom on my break from work I ventured to lavalife for a laugh. I wanted to stab ALL of them in the face. Not just 90%, I seriously mean the entire group of rodents.

It just annoys me that, due to the judgement of neanderthals, I must be grouped into the same category as them.

I'm so glad I'm in a relationship, finding a partner in that mess would be like reaching into a barrel of rotting sardines.

Quotes like that keep me warm at night.

I was meant to be getting a big day out ticket for Jenny on my credit card.

45,000 tickets sold in 5 minutes (though apparently over the course of the night, hmpf).

I feel mighty bad, so I think to compensate for this... I will enter my family, pets, secret stash of spawn and limbs into the ballot, in a fervent attempt to get a ticket.

It's Chris and my 4th anniversary today! :) Love you hun, xx
